Cheri Gross has been practicing massage therapy for almost 30 years, a full decade before licensure became available. Which makes it hard to believe she’s only in her early 40s! At the young age of 10 she started working on her father after an accident left him in the hospital for a month and permanently disabled.
Around the age of 12, she started experiencing a decline in her own health to the point where she had to drop out of high school for a year. After visiting several practitioners, she simply made the decision that she was going to get better, and fought her way back to health. That’s when she first began to understand the profound power of the human mind. At the age of 16, Cheri finally found an amazing chiropractor/healer who opened her up to her own energy systems.
In 1993 she found herself graduating from Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe, Arizona, for massage therapy and then moving to Los Angeles. While building her private massage practice, she enrolled in Yo San University and graduated from Emperor’s College with a master’s degree in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
She now practices a wide range of techniques including sports massage, myofascial therapy and scar tissue release, deep tissue massage, acupressure, pregnancy massage, Swedish massage, manual lymphatic drainage, acupuncture, and Chinese herbology. She works with cancer, post-surgery (both necessary and elective), and trauma patients, as well as those suffering from auto-immune disorders.
Growing up with a family member in chronic pain coupled with her own health issues greatly impacted her. It started her on a journey—one in which she intensively strives for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health every day. (Not that she never eats a candy bar!) It’s not surprising that Cheri’s journey to health evolved into a passion for helping others by empowering them on their own paths to health. In turn, they have broadened her own.
Cheri has been fortunate to work with chiropractors, acupuncturists, a psychologist, mediums, healers, physical therapists, personal trainers, naturopaths, surgeons, and MDs who have helped her become a more well-rounded therapist and person. She hopes to pass on what she has been given.
